This stunning late 19th century NCR brand cash register boasts the iconic fleur-de-lys pattern over the entire body. If you are a fan of the Gilmore Girls, you will recognize this as Luke’s Diner cash register! The register is operational: the drawer opens when “sale” is pressed and the bell even "dings". Price “flags” show through the sale transaction display window, paneled in heavy glass. One key (5cent) is broken but is included in the drawer, as are some of the numeral markers. The interior drawer is wood paneled and shows rustic wear with a brass lid covered coin compartment. Sadly, there is no key but the lid does open and can host your own treasures. It appears that some nefarious activity occurred with an attempt to pry open the register, as seen in the side panel by the lock. While it may be a blemish to some, we can’t help but wonder about the mystery! Also missing is the side crank, and again, this does nothing to detract from its drawer functionality and charm. The register was developed by the National Cash Register Company of Dayton, Ohio. The serial number is 136357 which indicates a manufacture date between June 17, 1897 and September 23, 1898. The model number is 322. We have a number of detailed photos of the interior mechanisms and of the exterior close-ups for your inspection, should you want to further investigate.
